New Year, New Starts

Happy new year everyone!

R and I actually went out last night with a group of friends to a bar while the baby stayed with my family. Despite my worry and dread, I had a great time and made it to midnight, which was a feat unto itself. I always love the new year and all the new promise it brings. It is a clean start, a chance to erase old ways of thinking and start on new paths.

2007 was one of the best years of my life to date. But everything changed. I had my first child, quit my job, had some mild success with freelancing, turned 30 and matured in ways I never expected. A couple old friends have drifted away, some more dramaatically than others, but through Sam I have met incredible new people I would have never known otherwise. Other friendships deepened and expanded in new ways while my relationship with R has grown as strong as it has ever been.

I cried after the ball dropped when I realized with horror that my baby was no longer "born this year," but I am looking forward to all the changes 2008 will bring--a potential new baby, more writing opportunity, a growing toddler. I usually try to make half-hearted resolutions, but this year I am keeping them relatively simple, just trying to find some ways to make my life both simpler and richer.

My 2008 "resolutions":

1.) Spend more quality alone time with R
2.) Contine to work out at least one hour, five days a week throughout this pregnancy
3.) Eat small portions and dessert only two times a week (try to keep this pregnancy weight gain more reasonable than the last)
4.) Work on getting one new client a month, either through essay sales or queries

So, there it is. My goals are not massive or overarching. They are simple and easy to accomplish. So, with no further ado, I am going to get to them.

Bring on 2008!

Happy New Year! I have no doubt you'll achieve all your resolutions and that your 2008 will be as great, if not greater than 2007! XOXO
