Just When I Thought I was So Harcore

This morning I met with my new SeeMommyRun running group.

I met up with one non-pregger mom of a 16-month-old at 6:15 a.m. to run four miles. It was easily the best run I have had in a long time. A running group is so motivating. But if I was looking for people to help me feel hardcore, I was knocking at the wrong door.

Good lord.

She told me that one of the women in our group runs 10 miles a day in the morning, swims at night and is 27 weeks pregnant as well. She, herself, ran four miles a day until 37 weeks and just last week, I learned about the group from a woman who, at 36 weeks gestation is STILL doing 5 mile trail runs several times a week. I am in awe.

What a relief it is to meet women like me, to not have to bear the strange looks alone. But it is somewhat humbling. Until this morning, I felt like I was hardcore. And now? I feel like I have to step it up!

What I want to know is, where the heck do you all find the time to do all this?? Seriously, I would LOVE to know how to fit in that much exercise with the kids. Pre-kids, I ran five miles a day. Now, doing an hour of yoga and 30 minutes on the treadmill (uninterrupted) is a luxury. Any words of wisdom for someone who'd like to get her butt back?

Wow. I am impressed, as I usually am, with your running as well as your friends'. It's so good for both you and the baby. I miss running now. Again. :(
