The Mystery of the Double Yolked Egg

This morning as I made my usual breakfast of scrambled egg whites and cheese and a yolk for Sam, I saw the strangest thing I have ever seen in an egg: a double yolk.

Apparently this is not entirely uncommon. According to Slashfood.com, one in 1,000 eggs is double-yolked. But since I have never had one, to me it might as well be one in 8 million. My initial thought was: does this mean I am having twins (g-d forbid)? But then I started to read more. Some believe it is the sign of impending death in the family. Others believe it is good luck and fortells an upcoming wedding or a financial windfall.

Although I would like to believe it is good luck, I am kind of flipping about the "impending death in the family" idea. This is not what a pregnant lady in her first trimester needs to hear from an egg.

So, what does this mean? Has anyone else had a double-yolked egg? Should I stay in for the next two weeks? Not leave the house?

As soon as I read the title of your post, I thought, "She's having twins." That's my vote.
