Like her mother before her who sucked her thumb for 12 years, it appears that we have a thumbsucker. Yes, my little one has found her thumb and declared it delicious. Thanks to this new little trick, she slept from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. today. Let's hear it for the sucking of the thumb!
Thumb-Sucker
(Shel Silverstein)
Oh, the thumb-sucker's thumb
May look wrinkled and wet
And withered and white as the snow,
But the taste of the a thumb
Is the sweetest taste yet
(As only we thumb-suckers know).

Whoo-Hoo! Whatever gets them to sleep (and especially for that long) is good in my book!
This is the start of a beautiful friendship!
I have a thumb sucker, too.
Man, does she love her thumb—just like her daddy, who sucked his thumb until he was about 12. What is it about 12?
Two years into later, her thumb is flat. The dentist tried to fear monger me into getting her off the thumb immediately, but I have bigger fish to fry: potty training.
So for now, it's thumb or bust—whatever gets us all through the night.
